Donald C. Lewis, 79, a long-time resident of Swanzey died on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Cheshire Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Keene. He passed peacefully in his sleep after a period of declining health.
Don was born the son of the late Isabel (Clark) and Harold H. Lewis on November 29, 1938 in Keene. He was educated locally and graduated from Keene High School class of 1956. Don went on in his studies and graduated from Keene State College, welding certification program.
On December 26, 1959 he exchanged vows with Thoris “Kim” L. Walker. They were married at the Swanzey Congregational Church with family and friends in attendance. They have been married for almost fifty-nine years.
Don worked for Airgas in Swanzey as a manager for twenty years before retiring in 2001. Prior, he had worked at Perkins Machine Shop as a machinist and welder.
He was a man of faith and member of the Troy Baptist Church. He loved mowing his lawn. This was his time to think and relax. Time was spent tinkering and working on various projects. He liked to go snowmobiling and camping with his family. On occasion you could find Don casting a line on the various waters in the region.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife, Kim L. Lewis of Swanzey. His daughters; Kimberlee J. Welch and her husband Eric of West Swanzey and Terry L. Lewis of Swanzey. Sisters; Sybil Delworth of Keene and Gail Ballou and her husband Robert of Swanzey. His six grandchildren; Jillian Patch, Thomas Lacroix, Tabitha Curry, David Ellis III, Mal Snide and Shelby Snide. In addition, he is survived by three great grandchildren; Jordyn Lacroix, Thomas Lacroix and Rhiannon Patch. Don will be missed by his cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is pre-deceased by his siblings; Harold, Pearl and Marilyn.
In keeping with Don’s wishes there are no calling hours or formal funeral services at this time. A gathering to celebrate Don’s life will be held on Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 1 to 5pm. at the family home, 73 James Rd. Swanzey, NH. 03446. Donations can be made in memory of Donald C.
