David R. Sanger, 66, of Chesterfield and formerly of Woodside, California died on Thursday, December 3, 2015. He passed peacefully in the comfort of his home with the love and compassion of family near.

David was born the son of the late Sylvia (Pariseau) and Clyde Sanger Sr. on April 5, 1949 in Holyoke, MA. He was educated in St. Johnsbury, Vt. where he attended school. Soon after school David joined the U.S. Navy. He was trained as a Boiler Technician, specializing as a Fireman. He served during the Vietnam War from May 16, 1967 to May 15, 1973. during his time he was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon with Device, Combat Action Ribbon and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. David was honorably discharged at the rank of BT-2, E-5, Petty Officer 2nd. Class.

David worked as foreman and project manager for Gary S. Ross Contracting for two years before retiring in 1999. Prior he had worked at Abbott Labs as a facilities maintenance engineer for nine years.

Time was spent growing flowers and vegetable. He loved to tinker and repair old clocks. David was also known for having a big heart. He was always helping someone in need or doing charity work.

Mr. Sanger is survived by his partner, Jon Anderson of Chesterfield. His siblings; Clyde Sanger Jr. and his wife Marylynn of Marlborough and Maryjane Bardwell of Greenfield, MA. He leaves his nieces and nephews; Sylvia, Chip, Skippy, Dawn and Marybeth in addition to cousins, extended family and friends.
