David H. Murray, 75, of Dublin and formerly of McDonough, Georgia, died on Saturday, September 28, 2019, after a long sickness. He passed peacefully in the comfort of his home with the love of family near. It was especially comforting to them all to know that he died, as he had lived, a strong believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.

David was born the son of the late Frank S. Murray and Lois (Abram) Murray on July 19, 1944 in Manchester, N.H. He was educated in Massachusetts and graduated from Gloucester High School in the class of 1962. David went on in his studies at the Fairwood Bible Institute in Dublin for three years. He then went on to earn his Bachelors of Science in History at Brown University in Rhode Island, class of 1969. His education brought him to Salem State College where he earned his teaching certificate.

He was a patriot serving two enlistments, first in the U. S. Army Reserve, and then the Coast Guard Reserve, stationed out of Gloucester, Massachusetts where he was honorably discharged. On June 27, 1970 he exchanged vows with Patricia Sawtelle at the
Cathedral of the Pines in Rindge. They have been happily married for forty-nine years.

David was the former lead pastor at Fair Haven Chapel, in Essex, Massachusetts, and later at Open Door Chapel in McDonough, Georgia for five years before retiring in 2010. He also served as counselor on staff at the Fairwood Bible Institute in Dublin for several years.

He was an active member of the Fairwood Bible Chapel for years where he was a counselor and spiritual leader. In leisure time, he enjoyed reading, walking the hills of Dublin, following sports and exploring Scottish history along with his Scottish ancestry.

Mr. Murray is survived by his wife, Patricia Murray of Dublin and his children, Karena Weiss of the U.K., Liane Maxwell and her husband Keith of Michigan, and Claire Pass and her husband, Bradley of Georgia. Other family members include nine grandchildren, his brother, Timothy Murray and his wife, Sharon of Dublin.. In addition, he leaves cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. David was predeceased by his son Andrew Murray in 2004.

Calling hours were held on Monday, September 30th, and a celebration of life service was held on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the Fairwood Bible Chapel. Donations can be made in memory of David H.
