Clyde “Pop” F. Hildreth, 79, a life-long resident of Winchester died on Monday, May 29, 2017 in the comfort of his home. He passed peacefully in familiar surroundings with the love of his family near.

Clyde was born the son of the late Catherine (Roy) and Franklin Hildreth on February 4, 1938 in Winchester where he was educated and attended schools.

Pop enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on April 6th, 1955. He served his time as a fuel specialist and pumpman. He was the recipient of the Armed Services Longevity Service Award and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on October 9, 1959 at the rank of A/2C E-3.
On April 4, 1959 he exchanged vows with Fidelma “Fay” B. O’Toole at Corpus Christi Church, in Killbride, ST. Johns’s, Newfoundland, Canada. They were married with family and friends in attendance and have been married for fifty-eight years.

Pop was the owner and operator of Hildreth Pallet Service in Winchester. He owned the company for close to fifteen years before retiring in 2000. Prior Pop had worked at the Ashuelot Paper Mill as a machine operator.

He enjoyed going for rides threw Pisgah Park where he could watch the wildlife. Time was spent with family and friends. He enjoyed cutting wood and being in the great outdoors. When possible he would watch the Red Sox and Patriots. Pop was a dog and animal lover. When time permitted in his younger years he liked to go dancing with his wife at the Swanzey VFW and other places. He would also go fishing and hunting.

Mr. Hildreth is survived by his wife Fay B. Hildreth of Winchester. His children: Thomas F. Hildreth of Winchester and Tammy L. Hildreth of Winchester. His brother, Edmund Hildreth and his wife Barbara of Winchester and a sister, Jean Pelkey and her husband Frank of Winchester. He leaves four grandchildren; Katrina Danby and her husband Pat, Heidi Englert and her husband Nick, Ryan Hildreth and his fiancée Colleen Devlin and Jamie Hillock and her fiancée Darron Graves. In addition, he is survived by 9 great grandchildren; cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Pop is pre-deceased by his sister and brother in-law, Frances and Francis Fosdick.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 from 6 to 8pm. in the funeral home. A graveside service in the family lot with military honors will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 10am. in Evergreen Cemetery, Rt. 119, Richmond Rd. Winchester, NH. 03470. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Clyde “Pop” F. Hildreth to: American Cancer Society, P.O.
