Christine Kennedy

Christine (Starkey) Kennedy, 90, a life long resident of Winchester, died on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Applewood Nursing Home in Winchester. She passed peacefully with the love and compassion of her family at her side.

She was born the daughter of the late Myrtle (Joslyn) and William Starkey on April 29, 1924 in Hinsdale. She was educated locally and graduated from Hinsdale High School class of 1942.

On June 28, 1952 she exchanged vows with Robert A. Kennedy at the Episcopal Church in West Swanzey. They have been married for sixty two years.
Christine had many jobs over her lifetime. For many years, she provided daycare in her home. She retired in 1991 from the Jennings Insurance Agency of Winchester after 20 years of service for the company.

Christine was a woman of faith and member of the United Church of Winchester, the Ladies Society of the church and a member of the Winchester Senior Citizens Club. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, bird watching, and putting together jigsaw puzzles. She was known to play bingo and enjoyed canning foods from her garden, especially making bread and butter pickles. Christine lived by the tenet If you cant say something good about a person, dont say anything at all. She especially enjoyed family get-togethers and visits from her grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Mrs. Kennedy is survived by her husband Robert A. Kennedy of Winchester; her children and their spouses, Robert Kennedy of Savannah, GA; Marie Morton of Milton, VT; James Kennedy and his wife Bonnie of Leominster, MA; John Kennedy and his wife Jeanne of Marlow, NH; and son-in-law Phillip Talbot of Merrimack, NH; her siblings, Bernard and his wife Idella of Salt Lake City, UT; and Shirley Castine of Keene, NH. In addition, she is survived by sixteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Christine was pre-deceased by her daughters Kathleen Talbot and Roberta Hurting, son in-law Phillip Morton, daughter in-law Mae Kennedy, and siblings William Bud Starkey, Joyce Bonneau, and Robert Starkey.

A graveside service with Christian burial rights will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 11am. in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery, Richmond Rd. Winchester, NH. 03470. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Christine Kennedy to the United Church of Winchester, 97 Main St. Winchester, NH. 03470 or the Winchester Ambulance Department, 44 N.
