Chad Russell Smart 33 of Winchester died suddenly and unexpectedly at his home on March 27, 2011.

He was born the son of Debra A. (Benoit) and Marvin W. Smart on February 16, 1978 in West Chester, Pennsylvania. He has lived locally for most of his life but also lived for a while in Colrain, MA. And Tennessee. Chad was educated locally and graduated from Thayer High School class of 1997.

Mr. Smart worked for many years for various contractors as a roofer and framer. He has been gainfully employed for the past 12 years in the family business as a carpenter at Marvin Smart Contracting in Winchester.

Chad was an avid outdoors man. He liked to go camping being with nature. He also liked to work with his hands doing various projects. Chad could draw almost anything. He was very artistic and talented. His free time would be spent with his family or listening to music.

Mr. Smart is survived by his father, Marvin W. Smart and his wife Katherine of Winchester. His two children; Saylor S. Smart and Hazen C. Conant of Winchester. He is also survived by his siblings; Kristen Smart and her fianc Tory Bagster of Winchester, Russell Sonoski of Manhattan, N.Y., Jamey Morse of Winchester, Steven Morse and his wife Melanie of Bondsville, VT., Lynne Archibald and her fianc Jason Newell of Winchester. He also leaves his grandmother, Grace Smart of Keene. His surrogate mother who helped raise him after his mom passed; Ruth Archibald. And his special aunt, Dorothy Sullivan of Hinsdale. His uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends will miss his presence. Mr. Smart is pre-deceased by his mother, Debra A. (Benoit) Smart who passed on July 31,1983. And his grand parents; Walter Smart Jr., Frank Benoit Sr. and Sophia (Jablonski) Benoit.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 6 to 8pm. in the funeral home. Burial will take place in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery in Winchester this spring.
