Cecilia (Grzelecki) Wasileski, 101, a long time resident of Ashuelot died on Friday, August 28, 2015 at Applewood Care Center in Winchester. She passed peacefully with her family at her side after a brief period of declining health.
Cecilia was born the daughter of the late Frances (Buraczenski) and Antoni Grzelecki on October 22, 1913 in New Bedford, MA. She was educated locally and graduated from Thayer High School class of 1931.
On August 28, 1937 she exchanged vows with Kenneth “Slim” Wasileski at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Ashuelot. Sadly Ken passed on October 28, 2010 after seventy three loving years of marriage.
Cecilia was employed at Paper Services in Ashuelot for twenty five years. She worked as a machine operator and retired in 1979.
Cecilia was a devout catholic and member of St. Michael’s Church in Ashuelot until they closed. She then joined at St. Stanislaus Church, Mary Queen of Peace in Winchester. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s Society for many years. Time was spent cleaning at St. Michael’s when it was open. Cecilia loved to play bingo. She could be found working in her flower and vegetable gardens. Time was also spent watching game shows and doing word puzzles. Cecilia enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Patriots and the Boston Braves. Her pride in life was being with her large family.
Mrs. Wasileski is survived by her children; Barbara Bailey of Greenville, S.C. and Patricia Majer and her husband Ron of Hinsdale. She leaves eight grandchildren; Thomas Miller, Mark Miller, Karen Harris, Jill Miller, Donna Moreno, Ron Majer, Jay Majer and Todd Majer. Sixteen great grandchildren; Sara Miller, Michael Miller, Thomas Mansur, Erika Miller, Mark Miller Jr. Emily Harris, Amanda Adams, Alex Adams, Ashley Reifer, Nicole Bailey, Shawn Bailey, Charlotte Majer, Lauren Majer, Griffin Majer, Ainsley Majer and Sarah Majer. She also leaves her son in-law Theodore Miller of Ashuelot in addition to cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and numerous friends. Cecilia is predeceased by her daughter, Frances “Yarn” Miller who passed in 2002 and her grandson, Joseph A. Bailey who passed in 1987. Her siblings; Loretta Dubriske, Genevieve Curtis, Florence Wood, Alfred Grzelecki and Edmond Grzelecki all passed earlier.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 6 to 8pm. in the funeral home. A Mass with Christian Burial Rights will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 10:30am. in St. Stanislaus, Mary Queen of Peace Church, Richmond Rd. Winchester. Burial will follow in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery, Richmond Rd. Winchester, NH. 03470. Flowers will gladly be accepted.
