Carl G. Buckley, 79, a long time resident of Roxbury and formerly of Keene died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 25, 2016 in the comfort of his home.

Carl was born the son of the late Arthur Buckley on June 29, 1936 in Keene. He attended schools in Keene.

He left school to enlist in the U. S. Army. He served his time during the Korean War and was honorably discharged after serving his enlistment.

Carl was the owner and operator of the Buckley Trucking Company. He owned the operation for thirty years until his retirement in 1996. Prior, he had worked at the Sprague and Carlton Company as a machine operator.

On February 16, 1957 he exchanged vows with Betty J. Campbell at the First Baptist Church on Washington St. in Keene. They have been married for almost sixty years.

He loved old cars. Time was spent going to car shows and working on cars. He had a love affair for his 1965 Chevrolet Nova that he restored. Carl had a softer side to him. He loved country music and going to music festivals. He was a man who enjoyed being with his family and being home. When time permitted he would go camping in Maine with the family.

Mr. Buckley is survived by his wife Betty J. Buckley of Roxbury. Deb and Robert Lagoy of Fitchburg, MA. Julie Chickering and her husband Tim of Chesterfield and Brian Buckley of Roxbury. His sister, Jane Reeves of Greenland. Grandchildren; Raymond, Alaina, Jay and Kiah. Five great grandchildren; Mason, Devan, Jacob, Savannah and Adam in addition to cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Carl is pre-deceased by his siblings, Wendell and Arthur Buckley who passed earlier.

In keeping with Carl’s wishes a private burial took place in the family lot with military honors on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Mountain View Cemetery in Swanzey.
