Brenda K. (Purrington) Smith
Brenda K. (Purrington) Smith 63 a life long resident of Westport died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. She passed peacefully after a brief period of failing health with her family near.
Brenda was born the daughter of the late Mary J. (Annear) and Richard C. Purrington on February 3, 1951 in Keene. She was educated locally and graduated from Monadnock Regional High School class of 1969.
On December 16, 1972 she exchanged vows with Herbert Herb K. Smith in a simple service in East Swanzey. The Smiths have been married for forty one years.
Brenda worked as an assembler for the Multi Med Company in Keene. She had been with the company for ten years.
Brenda was a woman of faith and member of the Westport Village Church in Westport. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, watching QVC on television. Time was spent on day trips with the family. She enjoyed working in the kitchen while bingo was played at the former West Swanzey Athletic Association.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Herbert K. Smith Sr. of Westport. Her three children and their spouses; Melanie S. Piper of Keene, Maureen l. Conboy and her husband Michael of Swanzey and Herbert K. Smith Jr. and his wife Colleen of Swanzey. Her siblings; Beverly Meade of Keene and Bruce Purrington of Hinsdale. Five grandchildren; Bobby Piper, Kelly Piper, Hayley Joyce, Matthew Piper and Lillian Smith. In addition to cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Brenda is pre deceased by her brother Bradley Purrington who passed on May 8, 1996.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 1pm. in the Westport Village Cemetery, Westport Village Rd. Swanzey, NH. 03446. There are no calling hours. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Brenda K, Smith to: Westport Village Church, 109 Westport Village Rd. Swanzey, NH. 03446.
