Beverly “Bev” E. (Hurt) Doody, 89, a life long resident of Keene died on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Cheshire Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Keene. She passed peacefully after a brief period of declining heath with her family near.
Beverly was born the daughter of the late Margaret (Wall) and James Hurt on July 29, 1925 in Keene. She was educated in the Keene schools.
On February 10, 1945 she exchanged vows with Richard P. Doody Sr. They were married in a simple service with close family and friends in attendance. Sadly he passed on August 25, 2002 after fifty seven years of marriage.
Bev worked as an assembler and operator at Concord Labs in Keene for ten years before retiring in 1988. She had worked prior in similar positions at Princess Shoe and Schleicher and Schuell.
She liked to sew and knit clothes and dolls. Time was spent cooking for family and events. She enjoyed listening to music from her generation. Beverly was also an avid Red Sox fan. She especially enjoyed shopping. She was a very loving and devoted mother to her children and loved being with her family.
Mrs. Doody is survived by her children; Terry J. Doody and his wife Ellen of Spofford. Mary J. “Mary Jane” Doody of Keene. Her siblings; Joseph Hurt and his wife Pat of Keene and Franklin Hurt and his wife Lorraine of Swanzey. Four grandchildren; Richard P. Doody III, Shanon Danko, Marcia Harvey and Nathan Taylor. In addition she leaves six great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Beverly is pre-deceased by her children; Richard P. Doody Jr. who passed in November 2001 and Margaret R. Adams along with her husband Glenn Adams and their son Brian Adams all passed in an accident in 1988. Her siblings; Florence Marden, Katherine Boisvert, Pauline Hurt, Lillian Doody and James Hurt all passed earlier.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 6pm. in the Cheshire Family Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 11am. in the family lot at Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Ave. Keene, NH. 03431. Flowers will gladly be accepted.
