Barbara J. (Paige) Peirce 67 of West Swanzey died on February 9, 2010 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

She was born the daughter of Hazel M. (Snow) and Harry O. Paige Sr. on February 15, 1942 in Keene. She has been a resident of Swanzey for most of her life. Barbara was educated in the Winchester and Swanzey School Systems.

On March 7, 1981 Miss. Paige took her vows to Mr. Neil Peirce at the Community Church of West Swanzey. They have been married for 28 years.

Mrs. Peirce was gainfully employed by the Holbrook Home for many years as a Licensed Nursing Assistant. She retired in 1987 after working nearly 30 years.

Barbara enjoyed her free time. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women’s Auxiliary in Swanzey for many years. She was also a member of the Eagles Club in Keene. She liked to participate in the Scarlet Marauders Drum and Bugle Corps in West Swanzey. In her younger years she was found playing in the Busch Pool League or at a table for a good game of poker. She loved to play bingo. It didn’t mater where it was she would go almost anywhere to play.

Mrs. Peirce is survived by her husband Neil Peirce of West Swanzey. She also leaves 7 children; Rhonda Smith and her husband Mark of Swanzey, Bruce Rockwell Jr and Davida Carey of Swanzey, Missy Rockwell of Swanzey, Lori Peirce of Phoenix, AZ., Todd Peirce and his wife Crescent of Northfield, MA., Tommy Peirce and his wife Kathy of Auburn, and Kathy Peirce of Phoenix AZ. She also leaves her siblings; Robert J. Paige and his wife Barbara of Troy, Frederick G. Paige of Keene, Donald C. Paige and his wife Opal of Keene and Carole A. Rockwell and her husband Bruce of Swanzey. Her presence will be missed by her 19 grand children and 3 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. She is pre-deceased by her siblings; Richard Paige, Marion Chamberlin, Harry Paige Jr., Edward Paige and Martha Fish.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 6 to 8p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday at 11a.m. all in the funeral home. Burial will take place in the spring at Oak Hill Cemetery in West Swanzey. Friends and family are encouraged to attend.
