Anthony Tony F. Meleski, 85, of Ashuelot died on March 20, 2014 at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene. He passed peacefully after a period of declining health.

Tony was born the son of Victoria Paligo and Frank Meleski, Sr. on January 17, 1929. He attended schools in Ashuelot and Winchester.

Tony felt the call of duty, so on April 24, 1947, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was trained as a fire fighter. Tony was honorably discharged at the rank of Private First Class after completing his time of service.

On June 28, 1958, he exchanged vows with Leona R. Bleau at St. Bernards Church in Keene. They were married for almost fifty-six years.

He was employed by the Ashuelot Paper Company for many years, as a loader and machine operator. He retired in 1989.

Tony enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years. As time passed, he was most happy being at home with his family. Tony was a very private person.

Mr. Meleski is survived by his wife Leona R. Meleski of Ashuelot. He also leaves behind his children David Meleski of Alstead and Janice Sargent of Keene, his grandson Andrew Laperriere of Camp Pendleton, CA, and a sister Julie Baldwin of Connecticut, along with several nieces and nephews. Tony is pre-deceased by his son Francis Meleski, who passed on May 14, 2013. Siblings Frank Meleski, Jr, Stephen Meleski, Kenneth Meleski, Stella Michniewicz, Pauline Zwolinski and Louise Meleski all passed earlier.

A graveside service will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 10:00 am in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery, Richmond Road, Winchester, NH. Burial will take place with military honors. There are no calling hours. Flowers will gladly be accepted; however, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Anthony F.
