Anne Godley Moorhouse

Anne Godley Moorhouse 92 of Keene and formerly of Spofford died peacefully on April 12, 2011 at Langdon Place of Keene.

She was born the daughter of Martha (Skerry Rockwell) and H. Wilson Moorhouse on May 7, 1918 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She grew up in Ardmore and Haverford, Pennsylvania and attended the Baldwin School, Bryn Mawr, PA.

Mrs. Moorhouse was a homemaker, dedicated wife, mother and volunteer. She and her first husband Phillip Godley II, lived for eight years in Lexington, Massachusetts and then for sixteen years on their farm, Cobbler’s Farm in Wilton, NH. Where they bred and showed Shropshire sheep.

She and Phillip Godley were married on February 15, 1941. They were married for forty two years before he passed away in May of 1983. Anne was fortunate to find love once again and married Mr. John (Jack) Moorhouse in June of 1988. They happily married for 22 years before he passed away on April 22, 2010.

Anne enjoyed many things in her life. She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church’s in Lexington, MA. and in Wilton, NH for many years and the All Saint’s Church in Keene. She liked to sew, knit and cook for friends and family. She was an avid walker and a member of the Spofford Sailing Club.

Mrs. Moorhouse is survived by her daughters; Anne (Nancy) C. Wilson and her husband John of Lexington, MA. and Martha (Patty) R. G. Slack and her husband Daniel of Villanova, Pennsylvania. She is survived by one sister June M. Turner of Titusville, FL. Her four grandchildren and five great grandchildren will miss her active interest in their lives. She will also be remembered by her nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. She is pre-deceased by her two husbands Philip Godley II and John P. Moorhouse and her siblings, H. Wilson Moorhouse Jr. and Martha Moorhouse Freeman.

A celebration of life service will be held in Wilton, NH. with times and dates to be announced at a later time. There are no calling hours. Donations can be made in memory of Anne Godley Moorhouse to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC. 20090-6011.
