Mary A. (Hardy) Jacobs
Mary A. (Hardy) Jacobs, 76, a long-time resident of Winchester died on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Keene. She passed peacefully surrounded by her large family after a brief period of declining health.
Mary was born the daughter of the late Alice E. (Hayter) and William C. Hardy on October 29, 1940 in Hartford, CT. She was educated in Westfield, MA. and graduated from Westfield High School class of 1958.
Mary went on after high school and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Her enlistment was brief and she was honorably discharged.
Mary was married to Charles E. Jacobs who predeceased her on December 4, 2001.
She worked at the Northfield Mount Herman School in Northfield, MA. as a mail clerk and as a data entry clerk for many years. Prior she had been employed as a unit secretary for Cheshire Medical Center in Keene. Time was also spent as a fill in minister for various local churches.
Mary was a member of the Grace Christian Fellowship Church in Winchester for many years. She enjoyed doing word puzzles and putting together jigsaw puzzles. Mary was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. When time permitted you could find her reading a good book. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Mrs. Jacobs is survived by her children; Kendra D. Severance and her husband Bruce of Winchester, William Jacobs and his wife Tonya of Oklahoma City, OK. Kenneth Jacobs and his wife Kathy of Binghamton, N.Y. and Tamara Adams of Walpole. Her siblings; Janet Baker and her husband Bruce of Sterling, MA. and Jean Lohr and her husband Rich of Milford, CT. and Nancy Delancy and her husband Bob of Georgia, Nancy passed away in 2014. She leaves thirteen grandchildren; Jocelyn, Nicole, Harold, Christina, Eddie, Levi, Jesse, Bethany, Heavenlee, Nicholas, Nathan, Emily and Cody. In addition she is survived by nine great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 6 to 8pm. in the funeral home. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, June 22,2017 at 10am. in the Grace Christian Fellowship Church, 81 Ashuelot St. Winchester, NH. 03470. Burial will follow in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery, Rt. 119, Richmond Rd. Winchester, 03470. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, Mary would prefer donations be made in memory of Mary A. Jacobs to: Applewood Nursing Home Activities Fund, 9 Snow Rd. Winchester, NH. 03470 or to Grace Christian Fellowship Church, 81 Ashuelot St. Winchester, NH. 03470.
