Ronald “Ron, Stick” G. Stickney, 62, of Troy and formerly of Peterborough died on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Cheshire Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Keene. He passed peacefully with the love of family near after a period of declining health.

Ronald was born the son Frances (Farrar) and the late Raymond Stickney on November 19, 1954 in Salem. He was educated in Peterborough and graduated from Conval Regional High School class of 1973. Ron was formerly married to Judy Callahan.

He was the Assistant Director of Maintenance for the Rivermead Retirement Community in Peterborough for eighteen years before retiring in January if 2017.

He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, fishing and hunting. Stick was known as an accomplished cook. He is an honored Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. Ron developed the Explorer Post for the Peterborough Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a Volunteer Fireman from 1975 to 2007 and a past Deputy Chief for eight years in the Peterborough Volunteer Fire Dept. His love of family was well known especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Stickney is survived by his children; Chris S. Dionne and his wife Rebecca of Swanzey, Nick R. Dionne and his wife Stephanie of Marlow and Gretchen L. Higgins and her husband Joe of Troy. His mother, Frances Stickney or Peterborough. A brother, Keith Stickney and his wife Linda of Manchester. His grandchildren; Emmaline Mason, Lauryne Mason, Aidan Higgins, Owen Higgins, Avery Dionne and Noah Dionne. He also leaves his best friend, Brad Winters and his wife Judy of Hillsborough, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In keeping with Ron’s wishes all services will be private. A gathering to celebrate Stick’s life will be held on September 30, 2017 at Edward MacDowell Dam, 75 Wilder St. Peterborough, NH. 03458 at 2pm. Donations can be made in memory of Ronald G.
