Pierre “Frenchy” Damphousse

Pierre “Frenchy” Damphousse, 74, of Keene, NH passed away on Sunday July 30, 2017, surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home.

Pierre was born the son of the late Yvone (Deschene) and Camile Damphousse on February 15, 1943 in St. Alexis de Mont, Canada. Pierre moved to the states as a young teen and graduated from Keene High School, class of 1964.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War as an assault boat coxswain and cargo handler. He was the recipient of the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

Pierre was employed as a machinist at Kingsbury Machine Tool Corporation in Keene, for over forty years. After his retirement he obtained his CDL and pursuit his dream of driving truck, where he was part of many paving crews along NH and VT roadways. His most recent employ was driving as currier for Green Mountain Messenger, where he very much enjoyed interacting with all the people along his route.

He loved hockey whether he was watching or playing, enjoyed the beauty of nature on his four-wheeler and snowmobile, cross country skiing, tennis and woodworking. Pierre is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Keene.

Pierre is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years Diane, son Peter J. Damphouse and wife Celine of Chesterfield, and daughter Caroline L. Lacoille and husband James of Pittsford, VT. Additionally, he was the proud grandfather to four grandchildren: Audrey Damphouse, Cameron LaCoille, Emile Damphouse and Nicholas LaCoille, as well as countless cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday August 5, 2017 at St. Bernard Church, 185 Main Street Keene, NH 03431. Burial will follow in the family lot with military honors at Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Ave. Keene, NH 03431. There will be no calling hours, per Pierre’s wishes.
